Is Vice City Miami?

Yes, in spirit. Vice City is a fictional city, and Miami is its clear model. Writers comparing the GTA 6 trailers with the real city have matched streets, hotels and towers across Miami and Miami Beach.

Those matches come from press comparisons, not from Rockstar Games, so treat them as resemblances. The places themselves are real, and you can visit all of them.

The seven stops

  1. Stop 1 on the Collins Avenue section of the route in Miami Beach.
    Stop 1

    Collins Avenue towers

Start at 4775 Collins Avenue, in the row of tall oceanfront hotels and condos at Mid-Beach. Miami New Times listed these towers among the landmarks in the first trailer.

  2. Stop 2 at Ocean Drive in South Beach.
    Stop 2

    Ocean Drive

Head south to South Beach, where Art Deco hotels face Lummus Park. This is the strip most people picture first when they think of Miami, and Axios pointed to it in the first trailer's opening scene.

  3. Stop 3 at the western end of the Venetian Causeway.
    Stop 3

    Venetian Causeway

Cross Biscayne Bay on the low causeway that hops between small islands. It is a slower drive than the highways, with wide water views on both sides.

  4. Stop 4 at Kaseya Center in downtown Miami.
    Stop 4

    Kaseya Center

Reach downtown at the arena on Biscayne Boulevard. Forbes reported it as the model for the arena seen in Vice City.

  5. Stop 5 at 500 Brickell in Miami's financial district.
    Stop 5

    500 Brickell

Continue south into Miami's financial district. The twin towers at 500 Brickell are among the landmarks Miami New Times mapped from the first trailer.

  6. Stop 6 on Calle Ocho in Little Havana.
    Stop 6

    Little Havana

Turn west onto Calle Ocho. Forbes reported a neighborhood called Little Cuba in the game, and this is the part of Miami it points to.

  7. Stop 7 in the Wynwood neighborhood.
    Stop 7

    Wynwood

Finish north at 2516 NW 2nd Avenue, in the mural district. Park here and walk, because the walls are best seen on foot.

Drive it on a Vice City-style map

Mapside is a turn-by-turn navigation app that plays like a game. On the Vice City theme the whole map changes, including roads, labels, buildings and your route. Guidance stays clear, with lane arrows, speed limits and voice directions.

  1. Install Mapside on your iPhone. Android is coming soon.
  2. Get Mapside Pro, or reach level 50, to use the Vice City theme.
  3. Search for the first stop, then add the others with + Stop.

Every street you drive clears the fog on your map and counts toward your next level, so the route leaves a mark. Navigation is free, and Mapside Pro adds every theme and voice, plus CarPlay. No Miami trip planned? See your own city on the map.
